Ataya (means ‘giving’ in Arabic) is an exhibition for charity organized by Emirates Red Crescent under the Patronage of HH Sheikha Shamsa Bint Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan.

The annual Ataya Exhibition - since inception a short 12 years back – has quickly become a landmark in Abu Dhabi’s cultural calendar, where a wide range of fresh and distinct fashion wear, jewelry, home accessories, and furniture is exhibited and sold. The exhibits are by talented designers and artists from the UAE and the region, with each being picked individually by the Higher Committee of the Exhibition.

Objectives

To support charitable establishments with funds raised from the Exhibition.

To focus on building awareness of community service among Emiratis, particularly the younger generation.

To raise awareness - and importance - of the need to help less fortunate people in society.

To support similar projects/businesses at the local, regional and international level.

To help instill the value of charity in the community.

Q. Why did you become an Ambassador for Ataya?

A. Two reasons. First, I am passionate about promoting the arts and creativity and Ataya is a fantastic platform for artists, designers, and artisans to reach out to a wider customer base.

Second, Ataya is a great vehicle for raising awareness and money for charitable causes. I have led a charmed life and I believe passionately that when you have the opportunity to give back to people who have been less fortunate, you should make full use of it.

Q. What effect will your presence have on the Ataya Exhibition this year?

A. The range and scope of work on display are truly inspiring. You can meet the creators in person and buy their work directly. Also, it is good to remember that just by buying a ticket and visiting the exhibition, one can raise money for this year’s cause as well.
